Śiva Grants the Pāśupata Astra (Pāśupata-Śastra Upadeśa) | शिवेन पाशुपतास्त्रदानम्
मया समुद्यतान् पाशान् वारुणाननिवारितान् । प्रतिगृह्लीष्व कौन्तेय सरहस्यनिवर्तनम्,“कुन्तीकुमार! मेरे दिये हुए इन वरुण-पाशोंको रहस्य और उपसंहारसहित ग्रहण करो। इनके वेगको कोई भी रोक नहीं सकता
mayā samudyatān pāśān vāruṇān anivāritān | pratigṛhlīṣva kaunteya sa-rahasya-nivartanam ||
“कौन्तेय! मेरे द्वारा प्रस्तुत ये वरुण-पाश, जो पहले से उद्यत हैं और जिनका वेग कोई रोक नहीं सकता—इन्हें रहस्य तथा निवर्तन-विधि सहित ग्रहण करो।”
