Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya
सूर्योदये यः सुसमाहित: पठेत् स पुत्रदारान् धनरत्नसंचयान् । लभेत जातिस्मरतां नर: सदा धृतिं च मेधां च स विन्दते पुमान्,जो मनुष्य सूर्योदयके समय भलीभाँति एकाग्रचित्त हो इन नामोंका पाठ करता है वह स्त्री, पुत्र, धन, रत्नराशि, पूर्वजन्मकी स्मृति, धैर्य तथा उत्तम बुद्धि प्राप्त कर लेता है
sūryodaye yaḥ susamāhitaḥ paṭhet sa putradārān dhana-ratna-saṃcayān | labheta jātismaratāṃ naraḥ sadā dhṛtiṃ ca medhāṃ ca sa vindate pumān ||
धौम्य बोले—जो मनुष्य सूर्योदय के समय भलीभाँति एकाग्रचित्त होकर इन नामों का पाठ करता है, वह पत्नी-पुत्र, धन और रत्नसंचय प्राप्त करता है। वह सदा पूर्वजन्म-स्मृति, धैर्य और तीक्ष्ण बुद्धि भी पाता है।
