Kuvalāśva’s Lineage and Uttaṅka’s Petition concerning Dhundhu (धुन्धु-प्रसङ्गः)
वामदेव उवाच नानुयोगा ब्राह्मणानां भवन्ति वाचा राजन् मनसा कर्मणा वा । यस्त्वेवं ब्रह्म तपसान्वेति विद्वां- स्तेन श्रेष्ठो भवति हि जीवमान:,वामदेवने कहा--राजन्! मन, वाणी अथवा क्रियाद्वारा कोई भी अनुशासन या दण्ड ब्राह्मणोंपर लागू नहीं हो सकता। जो इस प्रकार जानकर कष्टसहनपूर्वक ब्राह्मणकी सेवा करता है; वह उस ब्राह्मणसेवारूप कर्मसे ही श्रेष्ठ होता और जीवित रहता है
Vāmadeva uvāca: nānuyogā brāhmaṇānāṃ bhavanti vācā rājan manasā karmaṇā vā | yas tv evaṃ brahma tapasānveti vidvāṃs tena śreṣṭho bhavati hi jīvamānaḥ ||
वामदेव ने कहा—राजन्! वाणी, मन या कर्म से ब्राह्मणों पर कोई अनुशासन, निन्दा या दण्ड उचित नहीं। जो बुद्धिमान यह जानकर तप और श्रद्धापूर्ण सेवा से ब्रह्म-पथ का अनुगमन करता है, वही श्रेष्ठ होता है; उसी आचरण से वह जीवित रहते हुए भी समृद्ध होता है।
