Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dhārmic preparation: begin actions with reverence (saluting brāhmaṇas), ritual propriety (pradakṣiṇā), and mental steadiness, orienting oneself toward what is auspicious rather than impulsive or careless behavior.

A person (not named in this line) performs customary acts of respect—touching a bull’s back as an auspicious gesture, saluting the brāhmaṇas, and circumambulating in reverence—then moves forward attentively, looking toward auspiciousness ahead.
