अध्याय ८ — शल्यस्य सत्कारः, वरदानं, पाण्डवसमागमश्च (Śalya’s Reception, the Boon, and Meeting the Pāṇḍavas)
सर्व जगदिदं तात विदितं ते परंतप । दिष्ट्या कृच्छुमिदं राजन् पारितं भरतर्षभ
sarva jagad idaṃ tāta viditaṃ te parantapa | diṣṭyā kṛcchum idaṃ rājan pāritaṃ bharatarṣabha ||
वैशम्पायन बोले—तात! परंतप! इस समस्त जगत का तत्त्व तुम्हें ज्ञात है। हे राजन्, भरतश्रेष्ठ! यह बड़े सौभाग्य की बात है कि तुम इस कठिन संकट से पार हो गए।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse praises a ruler’s discernment—knowing the ‘truth of the world’—and frames survival through hardship as a matter of both inner strength and auspicious fortune, reinforcing the ethical ideal that wisdom and steadiness help one cross crises.
Vaiśaṃpāyana addresses a Bharata king in respectful, affectionate terms, commending him for his understanding and congratulating him for having successfully come through a severe difficulty.
