Reconciling Contingency and Human Effort
atha cen māṃ na jānāsi sūryasyevodyataḥ prabhām
The verse emphasizes unmistakable moral and personal presence: true strength and rightful resolve cannot be concealed or dismissed; it stands forth openly like the rising sun, warning against misrecognition born of pride or hostility.
Bhīma is speaking in a tense pre-war context, asserting his identity and power. He challenges the other party’s failure (real or feigned) to recognize him, using the sun’s rising brilliance as a forceful comparison.
