शिष्यवृत्तिक्रमेणैव विद्यामाप्रोति यः शुचि: । ब्रह्मचर्यव्रतस्यास्य प्रथम: पाद उच्यते
śiṣyavṛttikrameṇaiva vidyām āpnoti yaḥ śuciḥ | brahmacaryavratasya asya prathamaḥ pāda ucyate ||
जो शुद्धचित्त पुरुष शिष्य-धर्म की क्रमबद्ध मर्यादा का पालन करते हुए विद्या प्राप्त करता है—उसी को इस ब्रह्मचर्य-व्रत का प्रथम पाद कहा गया है।
