शकटापणवेशाश्र यान॑ युग्यं च सर्वश: । तत्र नागसहस्राणि हयानामयुतानि च । फल्गु सर्व कलत्रं च यत्किज्चित् कृशदुर्बलम्
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: śakaṭāpaṇa-veśāśraya-yānāni yugyaṃ ca sarvaśaḥ | tatra nāga-sahasrāṇi hayānām ayutāni ca | phalgu sarva-kalatraṃ ca yat kiñcit kṛśa-durbalam ||
वैशम्पायन बोले— वहाँ सब प्रकार के छकड़े और गाड़ियाँ, बाजार की दुकानें, वेश-भूषा और उपकरणों का सामान, सवारियाँ तथा जुए में जुते हुए विविध वाहन एकत्र किए गए। वहाँ सहस्रों हाथी और अयुतों घोड़े थे; साथ ही छोटी-मोटी वस्तुएँ, स्त्रियाँ-परिजन, और जो कृश, दुर्बल या कष्ट-सहने में अयोग्य थे—जो कुछ भी साथ ले जाना आवश्यक था, वह सब संचित कर लिया गया।
