अधर्मश्चानुबन्धो5त्र घोर: प्राणहरो महान् । अनिष्ट क्षानिमित्तक्ष न च शक्यश्ष भारत
adharmaścānubandho ’tra ghoraḥ prāṇaharo mahān | aniṣṭakṣānimittaś ca na ca śakyaḥ, bhārata ||
वैशम्पायन बोले—भारत! इस समय तुम जिस मार्ग से चिपके हुए हो, वह अधर्म से जुड़ा हुआ है; वह भयानक है और महान् प्राणनाश करने वाला है। वह केवल अनिष्ट और क्षति के कारणों से प्रेरित है; और, हे भारत, उसे सफल बनाना संभव नहीं।
