इति राजन् यम: प्राह वर्तते च तथैव तत् । अथ भूयांसमेवार्थ करिष्यामि पुन: पुन:,राजन्! यमराजने जो यह बात कही है, वह ज्यों-की-त्यों ठीक है; फिर भी मैं तो बारंबार आपके महान् अर्थका साधन करूँगा ही
iti rājan yamaḥ prāha vartate ca tathaiva tat | atha bhūyāṁsam evārthaṁ kariṣyāmi punaḥ punaḥ, rājan ||
भीष्म बोले—राजन्! यमराज ने जैसा कहा है, वह ठीक वैसा ही सत्य है। तथापि आपके अधिक कल्याण और स्पष्ट बोध के लिये मैं उस विषय को बार-बार विस्तार से कहूँगा।
