सत्यार्जवं चातिथिपूजनं च धर्मस्तथार्थश्ष रति: स्वदारै: | निषेवितव्यानि सुखानि लोके हास्मिन् परे चैव मतं ममैतत्
satyārjavaṃ cātithipūjanaṃ ca dharmas tathārthaś ca ratiḥ svadāraiḥ | niṣevitavyāni sukhāni loke hāsmin pare caiva mataṃ mamaitat ||
भीष्म ने कहा—सत्य, सरलता, अतिथि-सत्कार, धर्म और अर्थ का साधन, तथा अपनी पत्नी के प्रति निष्ठापूर्ण अनुराग—ये ही गृहस्थ के लिए इस लोक के उचित सुख हैं। इन्हें साधने पर परलोक में भी सुख मिलता है; यही मेरा मत है।
