कीर्तिमांस्तस्य पुत्रो5भूत् सोडपि पठ्चातिगो5भवत् | कर्दमस्तस्य तु सुत: सोडप्यतप्यन्महत् तप:
kīrtimāṁs tasya putro ’bhūt so ’pi pañcātigo ’bhavat | kardamas tasya tu sutaḥ so ’py atapyat mahat tapaḥ |
विरजा के कीर्तिमान् नामक पुत्र हुआ। वह भी पाँचों विषयों से ऊपर उठकर मोक्षमार्ग का ही आश्रय लेने लगा। कीर्तिमान् के पुत्र कर्दम हुए; उन्होंने भी महान तपस्या की।
भीष्म उवाच
The verse praises transcendence of the five sense-objects and commitment to mokṣa through self-restraint and tapas, presenting renunciation as an inherited ideal within a righteous lineage.
Bhīṣma continues a genealogical account: a son named Kīrtimān is born, he becomes detached from sense-enjoyments and follows the liberation-path, and his son Kardama likewise engages in intense austerities.
