न चाददीत वित्तानि सतां हस्तात् कदाचन । असदभ्यश्न॒ समादद्यात् सद्भधयस्तु प्रतिपादयेत्
na cādadīta vittāni satāṁ hastāt kadācana | asadbhyaś ca samādad yāt sadbhyaḥ tu pratipādayet ||
भीष्म ने कहा—सज्जनों के हाथ से कभी धन न छीने। दुष्टों से दण्ड के रूप में धन लेना उचित है; परन्तु सज्जनों को तो धन देना चाहिए—उनका पोषण करना चाहिए, उन्हें कष्ट नहीं देना चाहिए।
