Kṛṣṇa’s Dhyāna and the Prompt to Question Bhīṣma (कृष्णध्यानं भीष्मप्रश्नप्रेरणा च)
महाभाग्यं च भीष्मस्य प्रभावश्च महाद्युते । श्रुत॑ मया कथयतां ब्राह्मणानां महात्मनाम्,“महातेजस्वी केशव! मैंने महात्मा ब्राह्मणोंके मुखसे भी भीष्मजीके महान् सौभाग्य और प्रभावका वर्णन सुना है
mahābhāgyaṁ ca bhīṣmasya prabhāvaś ca mahādyute | śrutaṁ mayā kathayatāṁ brāhmaṇānāṁ mahātmanām ||
महातेजस्वी केशव! मैंने महात्मा ब्राह्मणों के मुख से भी भीष्मजी के महान सौभाग्य और प्रभाव का वर्णन सुना है।
वासुदेव उवाच
True eminence is recognized through the testimony of the wise: Bhīṣma’s ‘fortune’ and ‘influence’ are presented as qualities affirmed by great-souled brāhmaṇas, implying that moral authority and dharmic stature are validated by learned, ethical observers rather than mere power or fame.
Vāsudeva addresses a radiant, mighty figure and states that he has heard respected brāhmaṇas describe Bhīṣma’s exceptional auspiciousness and powerful influence, setting a tone of reverence and establishing Bhīṣma’s stature through reputable oral testimony.
