ज्ञातिसम्बन्धिविपुले सत्त्वाद्याश्रयसम्मिते । कुले महति विख्याते विशिष्टां वृत्तिमास्थित:
jñātisambandhivipule sattvādyāśrayasam mite | kule mahati vikhyāte viśiṣṭāṃ vṛttim āsthitaḥ ||
भीष्मजी बोले—वह महान् और विख्यात कुल में था, जहाँ ज्ञाति-सम्बन्धियों की बहुतायत थी और सत्त्व आदि सद्गुणों का आश्रय लिया जाता था। उस कुल में रहते हुए उसने उत्तम और विशिष्ट आजीविका का आश्रय लेकर जीवन-निर्वाह किया।
