भीष्म उवाच
This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement: it marks the completion of the Sagara–Ariṣṭanemi dialogue within Mokṣa-dharma, framing the preceding discussion as part of the Mahābhārata’s ethical and liberation-oriented instruction.
Bhīṣma’s discourse reaches the end of a self-contained teaching unit: the text formally closes Chapter 288, identifying its placement (Śānti Parva → Mokṣa-dharma) and its topic (the dialogue between Sagara and Ariṣṭanemi).
