अध्याय २८६ — पराशर-उपदेशः
Ethical Restraint, Mortality, and Karma
विहितेनैव जीवन्ति अरोगाड़ा दिवौकस: । बलवन्तोडबलाश्वैव तस्मादस्मान् सभाजय
vihitenaiva jīvanti arogā divaukasaḥ | balavanto ’balāś caiva tasmād asmān sabhājaya ||
समद ने कहा—देवता भी, यद्यपि निरोग हैं, तो भी विधि के अनुसार ही जीते हैं; बलवान और निर्बल—दोनों उसी विधान से जीवन धारण करते हैं। इसलिए हमारा भी सम्मान कीजिए; हम भी प्रारब्ध पर ही आश्रित हैं और स्वेच्छा से कर्म का आरम्भ नहीं करते—हमें अकर्मण्य समझकर तिरस्कार न कीजिए।
