Educational Q&A

The verse frames the central inquiry of yogic discipline: the practical means by which one gathers the scattered mind and senses into ekāgratā (one-pointed concentration), a prerequisite for higher knowledge and ethical steadiness.

Śuka, as the speaker, asks for a detailed exposition from the interlocutor/teacher on the method and process through which ordinary people can achieve focused control over mind and senses.
