Yoga-kṛtya (योककृत्य) — Vyāsa on Sense-Restraint, Obstacles, and Brahman-Realization
ātmasiddhis tu vedeṣu procyate daśabhiḥ kramaiḥ | yad uktaṃ vedavādeṣu gahanaṃ vedadarśibhiḥ | tad anteṣu yathāyuktaṃ kramayogena lakṣyate ||
Self-realization (ātmasiddhi) is not presented as a sudden claim but as a graded attainment: the Vedas teach it through ten successive stages, and the subtle Vedic truth becomes clearly graspable when approached through disciplined, step-by-step yoga, in harmony with Vedānta.
Vyāsa is instructing about liberation-oriented knowledge: he links the deep, sometimes cryptic Vedic declarations with their clearer Vedānta conclusions, emphasizing that the intended meaning is to be recognized through a sequential yogic method rather than mere verbal study.
