Adhyāya 174: Karma as an inescapable companion (कर्मानुगमन-उपदेश)
ततः प्रज्वाल्य नृपतिर्बकराजं प्रतापवान् । प्रेतकार्याणि विधिवद् राक्षसेन्द्रश्नकार ह
tataḥ prajvālya nṛpatir bakarājaṃ pratāpavān | pretakāryāṇi vidhivad rākṣasendraś cakāra ha ||
तब प्रतापी नृपति ने बकराज की चिता प्रज्वलित की और विधिपूर्वक प्रेतकर्म सम्पन्न किए। इस प्रकार राक्षसों के स्वामी ने भी मित्र का दाह-संस्कार शास्त्रोक्त रीति से किया।
