On Gratitude and Friendship Ethics
भीष्म उवाच तत्त्वं शृणुष्व माद्रेय यदेतत् परिपृच्छसि । प्रबोधितो5स्मि भवता धातुमानिव पर्वत:
bhīṣma uvāca tattvaṃ śṛṇuṣva mādreya yad etat paripṛcchasi | prabodhito 'smi bhavatā dhātumān iva parvataḥ ||
भीष्मजी ने कहा—माद्रीनन्दन! तुम जो यह प्रश्न कर रहे हो, उसका तत्त्व सुनो। मैं तो रक्त से लथपथ, गेरू-धातु से रँगे हुए पर्वत के समान निष्प्राण-सा पड़ा था; पर तुम्हारे इस प्रश्न ने मुझे जगा दिया है।
