Tapas as the Root of Attainment (तपः—साधनमूलप्रशंसा)
कृपा : कर ् न फ सदैव शकुनास्तात मृगाश्चाथ तथा गजा: । वसन्ति तव संहृष्टा मनोहर मनोहरा:
kṛpāḥ karṇaphāḥ sadaiva śakunās tāta mṛgāś cātha tathā gajāḥ | vasanti tava saṁhṛṣṭā manohara manoharāḥ ||
भीष्म बोले—तात, मनोहर वृक्षराज! तुम्हारी शाखाओं पर सदा बहुत-से पक्षी बसे रहते हैं; और नीचे असंख्य मृग तथा गज भी प्रसन्नतापूर्वक निवास करते हैं। तुम्हारा सान्निध्य ही प्राणियों के लिए शरण बनकर उन्हें शांति में एकत्र करता है।
