एवं कुर्यान्नरो यो हि स वै संजय पूजित: । “संजय! जो अपने तेजसे तप रहा हो, राजलक्ष्मीसे सेवित हो और अपने सहायक बन्धुओंके बीचमें विद्यमान हो, ऐसे शत्रुके साथ जो उक्त बर्ताव करे, वही वीर पुरुष सम्मानित होता है (मरे हुएको मारनेमें क्या बड़ाई है)
evaṁ kuryān naro yo hi sa vai saṁjaya pūjitaḥ |
संजय ने कहा—संजय! जो पुरुष ऐसा आचरण करता है, वही सम्मानित होता है। जब शत्रु तेज से दहक रहा हो, राजलक्ष्मी से सेवित हो और अपने बन्धु-सहायकों के बीच खड़ा हो, तब विधि के अनुसार उससे निपटना वही वीर कर सकता है। मरे हुए को मारने में भला क्या बड़ाई है?
