को न्वेष संयुगे प्राज्ञ: पुनर्दन्द्धे समाह्नयेत् । इस दुर्योधनकी सेना मारी गयी थी। यह परास्त हो गया था और अब राज्य पानेसे निराश हो वनमें चला जाना चाहता था; इसीलिये भागकर पोखरेमें छिपा था

वायु ने कहा—“युद्ध में कौन बुद्धिमान् पुरुष फिर से द्वन्द्व-युद्ध के लिए उस शत्रु को ललकारेगा जो पहले ही कुचला जा चुका हो? दुर्योधन की सेना मारी जा चुकी थी; वह परास्त था और राज्य-प्राप्ति से निराश होकर वन को जाने का विचार कर रहा था। इसी कारण वह भागकर सरोवर में छिप गया। ऐसे टूटे-हारे, हताश शत्रु को रणभूमि में एकल युद्ध के लिए कौन विवेकी पुरुष आमन्त्रित करेगा?”
