Balarāma’s Pilgrimage Context
जैगीषव्य: स वै लोकं शाश्षतं ब्रह्मणो गत: । सिद्धोंने कहा--दृढ़तापूर्वक उत्तम व्रतका पालन करनेवाले देवल! सुनो। हम तुम्हें वह बात बता रहे हैं
jaigīṣavyaḥ sa vai lokaṃ śāśvataṃ brahmaṇo gataḥ |
वैशम्पायन बोले—वह मुनि जैगीषव्य निश्चय ही ब्रह्मा के शाश्वत लोक को प्राप्त हो गया है।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the Mahābhārata’s ethical logic of cause and result: unwavering observance of a noble vow and disciplined conduct culminate in higher spiritual attainment, here expressed as reaching the eternal Brahmaloka.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a report is given about the sage Jaigīṣavya: he has gone to the eternal realm of Brahmā. This functions as a narrative confirmation of the sage’s achieved status and the efficacy of his ascetic practice.
