एतद्‌ वै कारणं सर्व विस्तरेण निवेदय । सत्यपरायण विदुरने प्रणाम करके सामने खड़े हुए युयुत्सुसे कहा--“बेटा! बड़े सौभाग्यकी बात है कि कौरवोंके इस विकट संहारमें भी तुम जीवित बच गये हो; परंतु राजा युधिष्ठिरके हस्तिनापुरमें प्रवेश करनेसे पहले ही तुम यहाँ कैसे चले आये? यह सारा कारण मुझे विस्तारपूर्वक बताओ'

Transliteration

etad vai kāraṇaṃ sarvaṃ vistareṇa nivedaya | satyaparāyaṇa vidureṇa praṇamya sammukhaṃ sthitvā yuyutsave uktam— “vatsa! mahāsaubhāgyasya te, yat kauravāṇāṃ asmin vikaṭe saṃhāre ’pi tvaṃ jīvitaḥ śeṣaḥ; kintu rājñaḥ yudhiṣṭhirasya hastināpura-praveśāt pūrvam eva tvaṃ iha kathaṃ samāgataḥ? etat sarvaṃ kāraṇaṃ me vistareṇa brūhi.”

Translation

संजय बोले— “इसका सारा कारण विस्तार से बताओ।” तब सत्यपरायण विदुर ने प्रणाम करके युयुत्सु के सामने खड़े होकर कहा— “बेटा! बड़े सौभाग्य की बात है कि कौरवों के इस विकट संहार में भी तुम जीवित बच गए। पर राजा युधिष्ठिर के हस्तिनापुर में प्रवेश करने से पहले ही तुम यहाँ कैसे आ गए? इसका पूरा कारण मुझे विस्तार से बताओ।”
