शल्यपरिघातः (Śalya Under Encirclement) — Mahābhārata, Śalya-parva, Adhyāya 12
असक्तमभ्यवर्षन्त शरवर्षाणि भागश: । चेकितानको मारा गया देख पाण्डव महारथी पृथक्-पृथक् बाणोंकी लगातार वर्षा करने लगे
sañjaya uvāca | asaktam abhyavarṣanta śaravarṣāṇi bhāgaśaḥ | cekitānaś ca mādrīputrau yuyudhānaś ca pāṇḍavāḥ | mahārathīṃs tathānyāṃś ca pṛthak-pṛthag bāṇavarṣair avākiran ||
संजय बोले—चेकितान को मारा गया देख पाण्डवों के महारथी अलग-अलग होकर, बिना रुके, क्रमशः बाणों की वर्षा करने लगे।
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined action in the midst of conflict: warriors act with focus and coordination, reflecting kṣatriya-dharma—performing one’s duty with steadiness even amid violence and pressure.
Sañjaya describes a phase of the battle where Cekitāna, Nakula and Sahadeva, and Sātyaki each independently unleash continuous volleys of arrows, overwhelming opposing elite chariot-warriors in their respective sectors.
