अध्याय १ — न्यग्रोधवनोपवेशनम् तथा द्रौणिनिश्चयः
Night at the Banyan and Drauṇi’s Resolve
दिशं प्राचीं समाश्रित्य हृष्टानां गच्छतां भृशम् । रथनेमिस्वनाश्रैव श्रूयन्ते लोमहर्षणा:
diśaṁ prācīṁ samāśritya hṛṣṭānāṁ gacchatāṁ bhṛśam | rathanemisvanāś caiva śrūyante lomaharṣaṇāḥ ||
संजय बोले—पूर्व दिशा की ओर मुड़कर, हर्ष से भरे पाण्डव-योद्धा अत्यन्त वेग से जा रहे हैं; उनके रथों के पहियों की रोमांचकारी ध्वनियाँ सुनाई दे रही हैं।
