अध्याय १ — न्यग्रोधवनोपवेशनम् तथा द्रौणिनिश्चयः
Night at the Banyan and Drauṇi’s Resolve
'पांचालयोद्धा हर्षमें भरकर सिंहनाद करते, हल्ला मचाते, हँसते, सैकड़ों शंख बजाते और डंके पीटते हैं ।।
vāditraghoṣas tumulo vimiśraḥ śaṅkhaniḥsvanaiḥ | anilenāritaḥ ghoro diśaḥ pūrayatīva ha ||
संजय बोले—शंखध्वनि से मिला हुआ नाना वाद्यों का तुमुल, गम्भीर और भयंकर घोष वायु से प्रेरित होकर मानो समस्त दिशाओं को भर देता है।
