Adhyāya 31: Rājasūya-samāgama — The Gathering of Kings and the Ordering of Hospitality
evaṁ stuto 'si bhagavan prītena śucinā mayā | tuṣṭiṁ puṣṭiṁ śrutiṁ caiva prītiṁ cāgne prayaccha me ||
The verse teaches that inner contentment, prosperity, and true learning are best sought through purity and reverent devotion; knowledge (śruti) is approached as a sacred gift received through attentive listening and disciplined humility.
Sahadeva addresses Agni directly, concluding a hymn of praise and requesting specific boons—contentment, nourishment/prosperity, sacred learning, and affectionate favor—indicating a ritual or devotional moment within the Sabha Parva context.
