Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how mastery and authorization in weapon-lore (astra-vidyā), especially from a revered teacher like Paraśurāma, can make a warrior formidable; it also cautions that worldly fame and technical power strongly shape the moral and strategic stakes of war.

Yudhiṣṭhira describes an opponent’s exceptional status: trained/authorized by Paraśurāma in a hard-to-counter astra and celebrated as a foremost chariot-warrior, emphasizing the danger and renown of the figure being discussed.
