तब अर्जुनने उस महामनस्वी वीरके समस्त घोड़ोंको मारकर समरभूमिमें खूनकी नदी- सी बहा दी ।। सर्वलोकवहां रौद्रां परलोकवहां नदीम् । सरथान् रथिन: सर्वान् पार्थचापच्युतै: शरै:
sarvalokavahāṁ raudrāṁ paralokavahāṁ nadīm | sa-rathān rathinaḥ sarvān pārtha-cāpa-cyutaiḥ śaraiḥ ||
पार्थ के धनुष से छूटे बाणों ने रथों सहित सब रथियों को गिरा दिया; और उस रणभूमि में रक्त की एक भयानक नदी बह चली—जो लोगों को इस लोक से बहाकर परलोक की ओर ले जाती थी।
