अपरे प्राद्रवन् नागा: शल्यार्ता व्रणपीडिता: । प्रतिमानैश्व कुम्भैश्न पेतुरुव्या महाहवे
apare prādravan nāgāḥ śalyārtā vraṇapīḍitāḥ | pratimānaiś ca kumbhaiś ca petur urvyā mahāhave ||
संजय बोले—दूसरे हाथी भालों से पीड़ित और घावों के दर्द से व्याकुल होकर घबरा कर भागे; और उस महायुद्ध में वे पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़े—अपने विशाल शरीर और घट-से मस्तक के साथ धरती पर धम्म से ढह गए।
