कर्णेन युधिष्ठिरानीकविदारणम् / Karṇa’s Breach of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Battle-Line

ततो भूयोअब्रवीद्‌ देवो देवानिन्द्रपुरोगमान्‌

tato bhūyo ’bravīd devo devān indrapurogāmān | tataḥ mahādevaḥ punar indra-ādi-devatābhyaḥ uvāca—“śāyad etān daityān na mārayeyuḥ” iti matvā yuṣmābhiḥ kathaṃcid api śoko na kartavyaḥ | yūyaṃ asurān etena bāṇena “mṛtān eva” manyadhvam ||

तब देव ने इन्द्र के नेतृत्व वाले देवताओं से फिर कहा—“यह सोचकर कि ‘शायद ये दैत्य न मारे जाएँ’, तुम किसी प्रकार भी शोक मत करो। इस बाण से असुरों को मरा हुआ ही समझो।”
