कर्णस्य दानप्रतिज्ञा–शल्योपदेश–वाक्ययुद्धम्

स्वान् स्वे जघ्नुर्महाराज परांश्वैव समागतान्
svān sve jaghnur mahārāja parāṁś caiva samāgatān
संजय बोले—महाराज, उस घोर मुठभेड़ में योद्धा अपने-अपने दलों में ही अपने ही लोगों पर प्रहार कर बैठे; और जो शत्रु सामने आ मिले, उन्हें भी मार गिराया। ऐसी घोर भ्रान्ति और निर्दयता से युद्ध चल पड़ा था।
