यदत्रानन्तरं कार्य प्राप्तकालं च पश्यसि । कर्णस्य वधसंयुक्तं तत् कुरुष्व धनंजय,“धनंजय! अब यहाँ कर्णके वधके सम्बन्धमें तुम्हें जो समयोचित कर्तव्य दिखायी देता हो, उसे करो”
sañjaya uvāca |
yad atrānantaraṃ kāryaṃ prāptakālaṃ ca paśyasi |
karṇasya vadhasaṃyuktaṃ tat kuruṣva dhanaṃjaya ||
हे धनंजय! यहाँ इस समय जो तात्कालिक और समयोचित कर्तव्य तुम्हें दिखे—विशेषतः जो कर्ण-वध से जुड़ा हो—उसे अभी करो।
संजय उवाच
The verse stresses timely discernment and decisive action in accordance with one’s duty: when the right moment arrives, hesitation can become adharma in a war context, especially when the action is strategically and ethically framed as necessary.
Sanjaya reports an exhortation to Arjuna: he should do what he judges to be the immediate, time-appropriate course of action on the battlefield—specifically the action connected with bringing about Karna’s death.
