dvāveva kila vṛṣṇīnāṃ tatra khyātau mahārathau | pradyumnaś ca mahābāhus tvaṃ caiva yudhi sātvat ||
हे सात्वत! वृष्णिवंश में युद्ध के लिए केवल दो ही महारथी प्रसिद्ध हैं—एक महाबाहु प्रद्युम्न और दूसरे तुम।
सयजय उवाच
The verse highlights how martial excellence and reputation (khyāti) are tied to dharma as a kṣatriya ideal: in a time of war, a clan’s honor is represented by a few exemplary warriors whose conduct and prowess become the measure of their lineage.
Sañjaya, narrating events, identifies the foremost Vṛṣṇi chariot-warriors renowned for battle—Pradyumna and the person addressed as “Sātvata”—emphasizing their prominence among their people in the ongoing conflict.
