Chapter 148: Karṇa’s Pressure, Dhṛṣṭadyumna Unhorsed, and the Summoning of Ghaṭotkaca
sa tān rathavarān rājann atyākramat tadārjunaḥ | mohayann iva nārācair jayadrathavadhepsayā || visṛjan dikṣu sarvāsu śarān asitasārathiḥ |
The verse highlights vow-driven resolve within dharma: Arjuna’s focused effort to punish a grave wrong (Jayadratha’s role in Abhimanyu’s death) is portrayed as disciplined, purposeful action in war—intense yet directed by a moral aim rather than mere rage.
Sañjaya reports that Arjuna, with Kṛṣṇa as charioteer, charges the leading enemy chariot-fighters and showers arrows in all directions, seemingly confounding them, because he is intent on reaching and killing Jayadratha.
