Duryodhana’s Visit to Bhīṣma’s Camp and the Command Appeal

sa tena balinā vīraś chidyamāna irāvatā

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights steadfastness under harm: even while being wounded by a powerful opponent, the warrior remains a 'vīra'—suggesting the kṣatriya ideal of endurance and resolve in the performance of one’s duty amid the harsh realities of battle.

Sañjaya describes a battlefield moment where an unnamed heroic warrior is being struck and cut down by the mighty Irāvata; the line functions as a vivid snapshot within the ongoing combat narration.
