sañjaya uvāca |
yadi nāhaṃ parityājyo yuvābhyām iha saṃyuge |
vikrameṇānurūpeṇa yudhyetāṃ puruṣarṣabhī ||
The verse frames an ethical appeal to loyalty and duty in war: if abandoning an ally is not considered proper, then one should act in accordance with one’s role and capacity—showing fitting valor rather than wavering.
Sañjaya reports a battlefield exhortation: the speaker urges two warriors not to forsake him and calls upon them—along with Droṇācārya—to fight with prowess appropriate to their stature as foremost men.
