Garuḍa Array and the Ardhacandra Counter-Formation
साड्दा बाहवश्चैव धनूंषि च समन्ततः । रथेषां रथचक्राणि तूणीराणि युगानि च
sāḍḍā bāhavaś caiva dhanūṁṣi ca samantataḥ | ratheṣāṁ rathacakrāṇi tūṇīrāṇi yugāni ca, jighāṁsantaṁ yudhāṁ śreṣṭha tadā ’sīt tumulaṁ mahat ||
संजय बोले—चारों ओर बाणों की वर्षा से उन्होंने कितने ही योद्धाओं की बाजूबंद सहित भुजाएँ काट डालीं और धनुष भी छिन्न कर दिए। रथों के ईषादण्ड, रथ-चक्र, तूणीर और जूए तक टूट-फूट गए। और जब योद्धाओं में श्रेष्ठ को मारने की चेष्टा में सब प्रवृत्त थे, तब वहाँ युद्ध अत्यन्त विशाल और तुमुल हो उठा—ऐसी हिंसा, जो शस्त्रों और शरीरों दोनों को एक साथ चूर-चूर कर देती है।
