तस्य कीर्तिमतस्तात पुरा रामेण धीमता
tasya kīrtimatas tāta purā rāmeṇa dhīmatā |
संजय ने कहा—हे तात! उस कीर्तिमान् भीष्म को पूर्वकाल में परम बुद्धिमान् राम (परशुराम) ने जो अस्त्र-शिक्षा दी थी, उसी का आश्रय लेकर—जो शत्रु-सेनाओं का विनाश करनेवाली थी—कुरुकुल के वृद्ध पितामह, शत्रुवीरों के संहारक भीष्म, पाण्डव-पक्ष की सेना में प्रतिदिन दस हजार प्रमुख योद्धाओं का वध करते रहे।
