जग्मुस्ते परलोकाय व्यादितास्यमिवान्तकम् | वे युद्धसे पीठ न दिखानेवाले
sañjaya uvāca | jagmus te paralokāya vyāditāsyam ivāntakam |
वे योद्धा मानो मुँह फैलाए हुए मृत्यु के भीतर प्रवेश करते हुए परलोक को चले गए। युद्ध में पीठ न दिखाने वाले, शौर्यसम्पन्न और सुवर्णमय ध्वज धारण करने वाले वे सब भीष्म के पास जा पहुँचे; और घोड़ों, रथों तथा हाथियों सहित परलोक-पथ के पथिक हो गए।
