भीष्मरथाभिमुख्यं — Arjuna’s advance with Śikhaṇḍin; Duḥśāsana’s interception
चर्मभिक्षामरैश्षित्रै: पताकाभिक्न मारिष | छत्रै: सितैहेमदण्डैश्वामरैश्व समनन्तत:
carma-bhikṣāmaraiś citraiḥ patākābhikhnā māriṣa | chatraiḥ sitaiḥ hema-daṇḍaiś cāmaraiś ca samanantataḥ ||
संजय बोले—माननीय महाराज! चारों ओर ढालें, विचित्र चँवर और फटी हुई पताकाएँ बिखरी पड़ी थीं; वहीं स्वर्णदण्डयुक्त श्वेत छत्र और राजचामर भी पड़े थे। इस बिखरे वैभव के ऊपर से नवमेघों की घटा के समान हाथी, मेघों-से भयंकर गर्जना करते हुए, सब दिशाओं में दौड़ते दिखाई देते थे।
