वैशम्पायन उवाच
This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it frames the chapter’s ethical setting—post-war restoration through righteous kingship and ritual (Aśvamedha), alongside the continued necessity of confronting residual hostility. The implied teaching is that dharma after catastrophe involves both inner instruction (Anugītā context) and outer governance—stabilizing society while restraining aggression.
The chapter concludes within the Aśvamedha narrative: the sacrificial horse is being followed as part of Yudhiṣṭhira’s rite, and an episode culminates in the defeat of Śakuni’s son. The colophon signals the end of this specific unit of action and names its main events.
