उत्तड़क उवाच राजन गुर्वर्थिनं विद्धि चरन्तं मामिहागतम्‌ । न च गुर्वर्थमुद्युक्त हिंस्पमाहुर्मनीषिण:

Transliteration

Uttaṅka uvāca: rājan gurv-arthinaṃ viddhi carantaṃ mām ihāgatam | na ca gurv-artham udyuktaṃ hiṃsam āhur manīṣiṇaḥ ||

Translation

उत्तंक बोले—“राजन्! मुझे गुरुकार्य (गुरुदक्षिणा) के लिए प्रयत्नशील जानिए; उसी हेतु मैं घूमता-फिरता यहाँ आया हूँ। मनीषी कहते हैं कि जो गुरुकार्य के लिए उद्यत हो, उसकी हिंसा नहीं करनी चाहिए।”
