2: सं > यह कथन युधिष्ठिरको सान्त्वना देनेके लिये गौणरूपमें इस दृष्टिसे है कि मरनेवालोंकी मृत्यु उनके प्रारब्ध-कर्मानुसार अवश्यम्भावी थी; अत: यह जो कुछ हुआ है
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | śuśrūṣe tasya dharmajña rājarṣeḥ parikīrtanam | daipāyana maruttasya kathāṃ prabrūhi me 'nagha ||
युधिष्ठिर ने कहा—धर्म के ज्ञाता, निष्पाप महर्षि द्वैपायन! मैं उस राजर्षि का प्रसिद्ध चरित और मरुत्त की कथा सुनना चाहता हूँ। कृपा करके मुझे सुनाइए।
