samudra uvāca: maharṣir jamadagnis te yadi rājan pariśrutaḥ | tasya putras tavātithyaṃ yathāvat kartum arhati ||
The verse highlights ātiṭhya-dharma: a worthy host should receive a guest properly and according to propriety (yathāvat). It also implies that seeking guidance from renowned sages and approaching the right person/place is part of righteous conduct.
The Ocean, speaking to a king, directs him toward the hermitage of the sage Jamadagni, stating that Jamadagni’s son Paraśurāma is capable of offering the king proper hospitality.
