Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
रौद्रे लोहितमित्याहुलोहितात् कनकं स्मृतम् । तन्मैत्रमिति विज्ञेयं धूमाच्च वसव: स्मृता:
raudre lohitam ity āhur lohitāt kanakaṃ smṛtam | tan maitram iti vijñeyaṃ dhūmāc ca vasavaḥ smṛtāḥ ||
वसिष्ठ बोले—रौद्र-रूप में उसे ‘लोहित’ कहते हैं; उस लोहित से ‘कनक’ (स्वर्ण) उत्पन्न माना गया है। वह कनक ‘मैत्र’—मित्र-तत्त्व से सम्बन्धित—समझना चाहिए; और धूम से वसुओं की उत्पत्ति कही गई है।
