क्षत्रियं तूग्रकर्माणं त्वं भद्रे जनयिष्यसि । नहि ते तत्‌ कृतं साधु मातृस्नेहेन भाविनि

Transliteration

kṣatriyaṃ tūgrakarmāṇaṃ tvaṃ bhadre janayiṣyasi | nahi te tat kṛtaṃ sādhu mātṛsnehena bhāvini ||

Translation

भीष्म ने कहा—हे शुभे! तुम उग्र कर्म करने वाले एक क्षत्रिय को जन्म दोगी। भाविनि, मातृ-स्नेह में पड़कर तुमने जो किया, वह प्रशंसनीय नहीं है। तुमने और तुम्हारी माता ने जो अदला-बदली की है, उससे तुम्हारी माता ब्राह्मण-भाग्य से नियत श्रेष्ठ पुत्र को जन्म देगी, और तुम भयानक कर्मों वाले योद्धा की जननी बनोगी।
